The village of Glybokaya is a regional center 25 km south of Chernivtsi, not far from the Romanian border. It was first mentioned in 1438 as a desert area, transferred by the Moldovan ruler Ilya I to the court judge P. Gudima. The village appeared in a low (deep) valley, where the name comes from. In 1774, Glybokaya, together with the entire Bukovina, passed from the Ottoman Empire under the rule of the Austrian crown. In the Habsburg era, the economy and urban development flourished. In 1857 a distillery was opened, and in 1869 the Chernivtsi - Suceava railway ran through Hlyboka. The buildings of the central street have been partially preserved since Austrian times.
