The old village of Selyatyn is located 20 km south of Putila, on the border with Romania. It was first mentioned in 1490 in the charter of the Moldavian prince Stephen III as the property of the Putnyansky monastery (Romania). Here is one of the oldest wooden churches in Bukovina - the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin (1630). The Greek Catholic Church of St. Vladimir (1848) has also survived to this day. In the beginning. XX century. Selyatyn, through which the railway (now closed) passed, was a rich and developed village, which is reminiscent of many preserved administrative and public buildings, most of which, however, are in poor condition. Selyatyn is considered the most thunderstorm village in Ukraine - thunderstorms happen here on average 45 days a year.
